i never cried more writing a newsletter 💔
dear mexico city, you are not a location, you are a way of life
Dear CDMX,
You met me at a crossroads.
Not in chaos, but in quiet clarity.
You didn’t ask me to explain myself. You simply let me be.
I came to you with a suitcase and some stories I was still healing from.
You gave me color.
You gave me rhythm.
You gave me air that smelled like pan dulce and potential.
You reminded me: life doesn’t have to be hard to be meaningful.
In your cafés, I learned to slow down.
In your mercados, I learned to savor.
And in your streets—layered with history, movement, and mystery—I remembered that joy can be gentle.
I’ve cried on your rooftops.
Laughed in your parks.
Had soul-deep conversations over the best coffee and bread I’ve ever had.
You gave me space to trust myself again.
To dream out loud.
To live a life that feels like mine.
This city didn’t save me.
It reminded me I was already safe.
Already home.
Already whole.
Thank you, Mexico City, for being more than a place.
You are a feeling. A frequency. A chapter I will never outgrow.
I love you.
— With gratitude,
Anita
