Welcome back to Nourished Inside Out! Today, I want to dive into the powerful topic of breaking free from unhealthy cycles. As someone who’s been through my share of challenges—joining an MLM at 18, getting married at 21, and divorced by 23—I’m here to remind you: it is possible to leave behind people and situations that no longer serve you.
The hardest part? Deciding when it’s time to let go. The most important part? Giving yourself grace as you transition into a new chapter. It’s easy to look back and beat yourself up for staying in situations where you weren’t treated as you deserved. But here’s the truth: while we didn’t deserve those challenges, they often became the lessons we needed to grow.
Let me share a little background on my experience in an MLM. On the outside, everyone seemed so perfect—especially the couples. Being single in that environment made me feel less than, like I was missing something. So, when a guy came along and gave me attention, I clung to the idea of us being the “perfect” couple, just like everyone else around me. But here’s the biggest lesson I learned: what people show on the outside doesn’t always match what’s happening on the inside.
It’s a gentle reminder for all of us—never compare your life to others, especially when you don’t know their whole story. Those “perfect” relationships I envied? They influenced me to settle for someone who prioritized appearances while things behind the scenes were falling apart.
Lessons I’ve Learned:
Don’t settle for the first person who gives you attention.
Your worth isn’t determined by someone else’s validation.Stop comparing your life to others.
Social media often showcases a highlight reel, not the whole reality.Your challenges don’t define you.
They are stepping stones meant to shape you into who you’re destined to become.Take risks—take more risks.
You’re stronger than you think, and nothing is placed in your path that you can’t handle.Trust your vision, even if others don’t understand it.
You were given your dream for a reason. Go for it, even when it feels lonely.
Breaking free from unhealthy cycles isn’t easy, but it’s always worth it. You deserve better, and with time, grace, and courage, you’ll step into the life you were meant for.
